Create a job

Create a job from a template:

Create a job from a template.

A job consists of 3 properties:

  • Target Web Application
Chose the web application where you want to create your content and structure.
  • Target Site Collection
If you have chosen a web application you need to enter a site collection:
-Using “/” the root site collection will be filled with content. It is not possible to create the root site collection using the application since it has to exist in order to get SharePoint languages, the farm id and templates.
-Using e.g. “/sites/NewSiteCollection” will create a sub site collection.
  • Template to create
You can chose a template which should be created.

Move up / down
You can change the order of a job. Using “Run all” from the context menu runs every job in the order you selected.

Note: Jobs are saved to the settings.xml in the application folder while closing the application.

Context menu

Administrate jobs:

Job administration context menu

A right click on a job opens a context menu with the following possibilities:

  • Toggle active
You can set a job to active or inactive. Inactive jobs won’t be handled if you select Run all.
  • Run
The template of the selected job will be created.
  • Run all
All jobs which are not set to inactive will be handled.
  • Delete
    A job is deleted.

Check in and Approve (global)

You can check in and / or approve items if the underlying list allows you to. You can define it for every element in the template tree if the element should be checked in or approved. Using the jobs tab allows you to override this option.

This options applies to all jobs.

Globally check in and approve list items.

It allows you to globally check in and / or approve:

  • All
Everything, list items, pages and sites (default.aspx / welcome page) will be checked in and / or approved.
  • Nothing
Nothing will be checked in and / or approved.
  • Per element
This means that the property of the element will be used to decide if this element should be checked in and / or approved.
  • All sites
This means that after creating a site the default.aspx (welcome page) will be checked in and / or approved.
  • All pages
This means that all pages will be checked in and / or approved. Doesn’t apply to default.aspx (welcome page) of a site.
  • All list items
This means that all list items will be checked in and / or approved. Doesn’t apply to pages.

Note: If you use this option the property of an element applies only if you have selected “Per element”.

Create (global)

If you want to create lots of content you can specify if a certain element should be created more than once. You can set this option per element but you can also override it using the jobs tab.

This options applies to all jobs.

Globally select the amount of content which should be created.

It allows you to define the amount of copies for:

  • List items in every list
  • Lists
  • Pages in every pages library
  • Sites

If you select a value of “0” the property value defined at every element will be created. The maximal allowed number is 500 for list items, lists and pages and 25 for sites.

Important: Be careful with this option. This has an impact on your infrastructure, e.g. networking and or SQL Server.
