Here is a second news about the next version of SharePoint… Microsoft has announced during the week that SharePoint 2009 / SharePoint 14 (still wondering about the new name) will use FAST Search as the new enterprise search platform.

Their strategy includes:

• FAST Search for SharePoint and
• FAST Search for Internet Business.

The news is dated 10th February 2009.

There are different version up to now...

FAST Search for SharePoint

FAST Search will replace the enterprise search from Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 with FAST Search for SharePoint in the next version.

If you want to use FAST today Microsoft has also announced ESP for SharePoint which is a special offering with licensing you are supposed to use in some way with SharePoint 14.

FAST Search for Internet Business

This one will replace FAST ESP but has nothing to do with SharePoint if I understand it right. That’s it for this week… I’m writing a new post about WCMS development for the next week. Have a nice weekend.
